Turner Field, Atlanta, September 2003

Hannah and Dad went to Turner Field to see Greg Maddux come up short in his attempt to break Cy Young's record for consecutive 15-win seasons (16). But Hannah got two baseballs, one each from Philly centerfielder Marlon Byrd and, right after the game, the last game ball from Philly reliever Turk Wendell.

Afraid of traffic, we got there WAY early, early enough to see both the Phillies and Braves hit batting practice.

It was a delightful evening for baseball, cool but not cold. And it was the two-year anniversary of 9/11. The national anthem and God Bless America in the 7th were powerful, as was the blackhawk helicopter flyby.
